Matt Greene

I would like to first say that there is no way I would redo the trade that brought Visnovsky here. I would do it over and over again and I wouldnt think twice about it.

But now that there has been time, and it is clear that we miss a guy like that on the team, I would ask. "What would you give up to get Greene back"? I had a chat with a buddy yesterday about this, and the reply was "damn near anything" I imagine a defense core that consists of:

Gilbert - Souray
Greene - Visnovsky
Smid/Staois/Grebs - Peckham

That would be one of the top defense anywhere. It would be a great blend of speed, toughness, puck movement, shot power, AND defensive reliability.

So to start the talks, I would offer any 2 of the three unknowns on the 3rd pairing. Smid/Staios/Grebs. then I would throw in Nilsson, and then either a pick, AHL prospect, or one of the "garbage" players on the roster.
if that wasnt enough I would try to throw in a late round pick or two just to sweeten it a bit.

So where is your limit? how far up the depth chart would you go to entice LA to trade off their assistant captain and defensive leader?  oh I know its a tough sell. but LA seems to be primed as a trading partner with the Oilers and if we can solve a problem or two for them, I think a deal can be made.

Thoughts?
