Liunus Omark

Linus Omark. What can I say? the guys wasnt supposed to be making the team this year. By most accounts he was going to benifit from a year in OKC and ~maybe~ make the team next year. We were supposed to be talking about the "big 3" in Hall, Eberle and MPS. Now Omark is making it VERY hard for him to be sent down. How exactly do you explain to a guy that there is no room for him when he is performing that well?

So this lends me to think that the Oilers may actually be better off by employing 3 scoring lines and attempting to win every game 8-2 like they did against the Nucks tonight. It wont be a perfect year, not by a long shot. But it WILL be an exciting year. And it will allow the kids to grow and once they are ready to be legit NHL players night after night, then the Oilers can make the decisions on who to trade away to create a good shutdown line. Then again, 3 scoring lines may very well be able to work for them if guys line Hall and Hemsky can actually continue to kill penalties and Horcoff and Eberle can continue to face off against the top lines in the league and still put up more offence than they give up.

In any case, the game tonight was a very nice taste of what is to come with the Oilers over the next few years. Goals will be much easier to come by and excitement will not be in short supply. I just hope the Defence shapes up to be as solid as the forwards seem to be.

until next time.
