Next Up

Vancouver Canucks

Well the Oilers have shaken off the beating they took in Chicago. And after taking two points against the Wild, they are looking like they are ready to lay a beating on the Canucks no? Well I see a small problem with this. That problem is on the shotclock. Again they were outshot pretty badly. 19 shots total again for the Oilers when the visitors got 31. Khabibulin is working overtime proving that he is the real deal and worth his rather large contract. If he wasnt, they would have been blown out or at the very least they would have lost the game by a goal or so.

The Oilers have to find a way to fix the shot problem. They know what to do with it when it DOES get to the net. The goal totals have reflected that. But if they want to sustain that, they simply have to throw more rubber at the net. That or prevent the opposition from getting that much towards Khabi.

Vancouver has lost some of it's bite lately, and are ripe for the picking. But if the Oilers cant test Luongo early AND often this will be a low scoring game and I hate to say it, but the Canucks could come out on top. They are looking for a rebound game, and they always seem to play well against the Oilers. If the Oilers underestimate the Canucks, or cant pull the trigger at least ten more times this game, they are going to be hanging their heads tomorrow night.

I have faith that the Oilers will continue to get better and I really hope they pound another nail into the Canucks coffin, but if they play the same game against Vancouver as they have for the last few games it wont be tomrrow that the nail gets set.
