Sportsnet One.

So, Rogers has unleashed yet another channel. One that is supposed to be the savior of Oiler hockey. According to the Oilers office, and Rogers Sportsnet the new channel should be carrying 58 regular season games, meaning that there will be a total of 81 games on tv and zero on PPV.

This sounds absolutley great. EXCEPT for anyone that subscribes to Telus Optik TV. It seems that for all of us that signed up for the contract and ordered what we thought was going to be a great sports package are NOT going to get the same feed that the Shaw customers are going to enjoy.

Right at this very moment I am seething that a friend of mine is watching the first televised Oiler game of the year, while I am watching (on supposedly the same channel) MLB baseball.

I dont know who to blame here. Is Telus the idiot that didnt pick up the proper feed? or is it Rogers pulling something off? Why the distinction between an "oiler companion channel" and Sportnet One?

If this is Telus, did they really think that Edmontonians would prefer to watch baseball over hockey? Is this some sort of negotiation tactic for them to get the channel cheaper than Shaw? Or maybe Rogers didnt like the way things went with Telus reps and decided that they would offer the free preview but would not offer the full content to start with.

In either case I'm less than thrilled. I was really looking forward to writing something about the game tonight, enjoy a beer or two while watching Oiler hockey again. and now I'm relegated to MLB baseball and writing about being choked that Telus screwed me!

Until next time.....
